Be A French Festival Volunteer!
The Santa Barbara French Festival is a fundraiser for Center Stage Theater and Speaking of Stories, and to make this event possible we draw on the support of great community volunteers. There are a number of fun ways to get involved.
There are a number of fun ways to get involved
In June and July we need help spreading the word and promoting the Festival. This could be passing out flyers, hanging posters, posting to social media.
Friday July 14 from 10:00-4:00 we need bodies to help us build our little French community. Tasks include setting up pop-up tents, cleaning tables and the stage, hanging signs, setting up chairs, distributing garbage cans throughout the park, checking in vendors.
Saturday and Sunday July 15 & 16 during the Festival there are also many different volunteer opportunities:
Park Greeters/Monitors – at each opening to the event we need people to hand out programs and greet people, possibly directing them to different attractions at the event. These folks also make sure no one brings alcohol into the event or takes any out, so we are compliant with all Alcohol Beverage Control laws.
Booth Workers – we need people in the information booth, and helping to sell t-shirts, berets, soda, raffle tickets and sodas
French Speakers – are always helpful in the information booth, the conversation area and helping out in general.
Entertainment Stage Helpers – we have 3 different stages that have entertainment running all day both days. Our two main stages have assigned Stage Managers but we need helpers to assist the stage managers helping to wrangle performers and make sure everything runs smoothly.
Pétanque Helpers –Showing people how to play Pétanque and running the booth. Prior knowledge of the game is wonderful, but not required.
All volunteers who work at least 3 hours will receive a French Festival t-shirt, a voucher for a free beverage at the Festival, and a voucher for 2 free tickets to Center Stage Theater. It’s also lot’s of fun!
This volunteer opportunity does qualify for community service hours.
