Bastille Day is coming soon, and that means it's again time for the Santa Barbara French Festival and the famous Poodle Parade (Sunday at 6:15 p.m.). All kinds of poodles participate each year: we've seen pedigree world champions (a.k.a. “canine topiary”) to shaggy cockapoos. Sometimes Mademoiselle Pseudo-Poodle shows up (she's a great dane with big crêpe paper puffs).
Dogs and their owners may participate in the parade at no charge, and participants receive a certificate suitable for framing. This event is just for fun, so no prizes will be awarded. Costumed and decorated poodles are especially welcome, (but even the poodle wanna-bes can join in the fun)!
The mayor of Santa Barbara leads off the Poodle Parade, a longstanding local tradition. Sign up for the Poodle Parade any time in advance at the Festival. All well-behaved, licensed, vaccinated poodles are welcome. This is one of the Festival's most popular events. The public loves you! Be sure to invite your friends and bring your camera. To sign up just send an email to frenchfestival@sbcoxmail.com.
